NRCS Officials Meet With Legislators

Officials from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) met with members of the House and Senate last week to discuss the Congressional authorization of the Cape Cod Water Resources Restoration Project (CCWRRP). The meetings are an important step for the project because in order to be eligible for the federal funding available for watershed restoration projects under the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act, Public Law 83-566, the CCWRRP must first receive Congressional authorization.

APCC has spearheaded efforts to advocate for the authorization and funding of the CCWRRP by organizing the Coalition for the Cape Cod Watershed Project on the project’s behalf. The coalition is made up of a diverse group of organizations from across the state that recognize the critical role this project will play in restoring coastal resources across Cape Cod. Along with organizing the coalition, APCC has worked with our local Congressional delegation to build support for the project in the both the House and Senate.
