Bass Creek salt marsh is located off of Alms House Road, near Grey’s Beach. Totaling 37 acres, the marsh at Bass Creek was initially slated for tidal restoration in 2004. In the spring of 2008, the culvert was finally removed and a footbridge constructed in its place, reopening salt water exchange between Barnstable Harbor and the salt marsh. Volunteers have been monitoring salinity concentrations and plant species at the Bass Creek salt marsh since 2003, and in 2004 nekton and bird monitoring were also added. Monitoring of all four parameters has continued through 2008.
